Description

The Accelerator is an interactive installation by Local Projects where visitors enter a sustainability scenario and change what happens by their choices. My zone was the future-green city — the version of the city that exists after people have made better decisions.

I designed the future-green city environment and implemented the realtime interaction with the Vive controller, allow user to do landscape painting, foliage growth control, and grass painting.

Challenge

Making the city transformation feel responsive without feeling glitchy was a big challenge I did a lot shader optimization on the foliage, and buid the tree animation inside speed tree. Real-time Vive interaction inside an installation has tighter constraints than a desktop environment, the feedback loop between input and visual change had to feel immediate and readable at the same time.

The interactive zone ran live in the installation, with Vive controller inputs driving real-time changes to the city environment.
